2006 - Porter Wagoner had emergency surgery in Nashville for an abdominal aortic aneurysm.

2005 - Montgomery Gentry's video for "Something to Be Proud Of" premiered.

2004 – Dixie Chicks singer Natalie Maines gave birth to her second child with husband Adrian Pasdar, a baby boy named Beckett Finn Pasdar.

1999 - Clint Black's album Nothin' But the Taillights was certified platinum, and his compilation, The Greatest Hits, went double platinum.

1990 - Garth Brooks began a three-week stay at number one with "The Dance."

1987 - Dolly Parton, Linda Ronstadt and Emmylou Harris' Trio album was certified gold and platinum.

1980 - Glen Campbell and Tanya Tucker sang the national anthem at the Republican National Convention in Detroit, and later admitted they were on cocaine at the time.

1973 – The Everly Brothers broke up in mid-performance during a show at Knott's Berry Farm.
